I know we are supposed to be putting the garden to bed at the minute, but it hasn’t stopped growing yet so we haven’t stopped working! The Dahlias are only just starting to stop flowering, the weeds are still growing and the few things that have begun to die back have just shown us the weeds they were hiding!
We have created a new feature in the garden, in the bottom corner where there is a clump of Sorbaria bushes adjacent the wooden deck area was always a popular hide and seek area for children. We have done a bit of pruning to open it up a bit better and added some logs and cut log rounds as seats. We hope to floor the area with bark chip soon.

We also had a mini flood in the stream which comes into the garden which caused the pipe bringing water into the garden to be buried in rocks. We put the rocks to good use edging the path to what will become a beach on the pond;

Then we emptied the silt trap clearing a few fist sized rocks with our drain rods;

Then we all dashed excitedly into the garden to watch the trickle become a torrent and see what effect this had on the water features inside the garden. We have some more silt and debris to clear from the square pond so at the minute it is erupting with random odd noises and small fountains of water, all very entertaining!

Even though the trees are dropping their leaves we still have plenty of stem and berries to provide colour along with the sculpture in the garden;
